“We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.” Thornton Wilder
I have often talked in the past about having a gratitude mindset. Not only noticing what we’re grateful for in our life in general, but also maybe having a gratitude journal where we write down the specifics of that on a daily basis. If those specifics are not allowed to be a repeat of yesterday’s and the day before, then we have to start noticing, as the day goes by, what we might be grateful for that is going to go into the journal tonight, as a new awareness.
Yesterday I was in town and noticed a couple probably in their 80s holding hands as they walked along. My first incorrect assumption was that they have been together all their lives so to speak. My second thought that was more negative, was of what I am missing because my lifetime partner isn’t around any more. A couple of weeks ago I was talking about the questions we should ask ourselves about the dream we have. The last one was, “Is there any good in this dream for others?” I know a young man who was very cynical about ’love’ because his parents had separated at a critical time in his life. Later he saw his grandparents walking along in front of him holding hands, and it turned his whole thinking around about relationships. Luckily I was able to turn my negative thought around quickly and choose a different thought that created a more satisfied, happy thought pattern. My heart was able to open and be aware of my ‘treasures.’
Enjoy being conscious of your treasures! Robyn
